Walkalong gliders are awesome!

My goal for this blog is simple; to be the premier source of detailed walkalong glider information on the web. Designing, building, and flying of walkalong gliders will all be covered. No R/C, no rubber bands, not even traditional chuck-gliders. Just pure, 100% walkalong gliding.

For the uninitiated, walkalong gliders are flying model aircraft that soar above a hand-held artificial slope that the pilot tilts and positions just-right to create an updraft while "walking along".

Detailed articles will cover aerodynamics, structures, building techniques, and flying techniques for numerous glider designs. The smallest gliders are under 1" wingspan and fly at around 1.5 mph. The largest fly at a fast jogging pace and are over 4 feet across!
This black glider is my XB-6 design. All 6 props turn in flight
Material is pink insulation foam, colored with a black permanent marker
The propellers are made from standard printer paper, turning
on twist-tie wires

The interlocking finger joint is simple to make and very effective
The XB-6 glider breaks down for easy storage
Note the simple tabs cut into the foam sheet
Jagwings! These two photos show how to make my standard Jagwing design.
This is my original production design from August 2010.
